Women fail to enter Ayyappa Temple

Two women one a Journalist and another from Andhra Pradesh were stopped by the protestors today as they were trekking towards the Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala in the early hours. 

The protestors who stood guarding the temple of Ayyappa did not allow the women as they were under 50 years of age. The police tried to prevent the women and men protestors, but they did not allow the two ladies further down the hill.

It may be noted that according to the Kerala Government they were bound by the Supreme court verdict to allow the ladies into the temple. According to the judgement of the supreme court, the women and men are the same and they can enter the temple. The permission was allowed from 5 am today. 

But the situation is tense at the temple and no woman could enter the temple according to the reports. The police are maintaining a tight vigil in and around the temple. The volunteer’s men and women as per tradition are guarding the temple to maintain the sanctity and they are determined to see that no female under 50 would enter the temple.
