Narendra Modi who has scored a win by getting the 10 per cent bill passed in Parliament has suggested that if the Rajya Sabha members respect the public opinion they must vote for the Bill and see that the Economically backward people in the upper castes get the reservation in education and jobs.

There is talk that the reservations along with this 10 percent would go up to 60 per cent. But the earlier ones which are under 50 per cent are on caste basis and this 10 per cent is on economic reasons. So they cannot be clubbed together and dubbed as reservations for the same cause. One of on caste basis which is 50 percent and other which is being given after amendment to the constitution belong to upper caste purely on the basis of the financial condition.

Modi who was in Solpaur said that this was being done for creating equality in opportunity. The RS session was extended by a day to clear the 10 per cent quota bill for the poor people from Upper castes.

This is termed as a historic decision from the NDA Government led by Modi and it is going get them votes in the next election.
