Prevent accidents says DGP

M. Mahender Reddy IPS, DGP said in India every year lot of people are losing their lives due to accidents and the Police Department putting lot of efforts to prevent accidents through various programs like this Conclave on Road Safety and Traffic Management. Appreciating the efforts put by Chennai Police, he has noted that Chennai has achieved a big success in bringing down the fatal accident deaths by 35 % in two years from 2016 to 2018.

DGP has mentioned that in Western Countries the Police takes the responsibility of only law enforcement only and road infra and other related to traffic is the responsibility of the Engineering Departments. He has mentioned an example; at the weekends in Western Countries, all the Engineering Departments Engineers only will maintain all the traffic congestion issues and the Police will only do the vigilance and enforce the Law. But, whereas in India it the Police who takes the responsibility of the Public Safety and coordinates with all the respective stakeholders for the Road Safety and traffic management.

He has appreciated the Commissioner Cyberabad Mr. VC Sajjanar for taking up the initiative of organising the Conclave on Road Safety and Traffic Management in association with SCSC and thanked all the officials came from other states and Commissionerates.

V C Sajjanar, IPS, the Commissioner of Cyberabad Police in his address said that, the Cyberabad Police has been putting lot of efforts to make Cyberabad a safe place to work and live, through industry collaboration, People friendly, etc., and due which the Cyberabad has become the destiny for IT business for all the big companies across the World.

Mr. Mahesh Bhagwat, IPS Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda said it is a very good initiative by the Cyberabad Police and SCSC and appreciated for organising the Conclave on Road Safety and Traffic Management Conclave. He has stressed the importance of the Traffic & Road Safety rules in the current fast developing cities like Hyderabad. He said there are three different aspects – Road Engineering , Education and enforcement.

The Police is any how doing enforcement and for education and regularisation the Police and Public ratio has a huge gap and to maintain the Traffic we need community Policing and SCSC is doing a great job in doing this by way of its Traffic Volunteers. He has appreciated SCSC for organising this wonderful event.
