Kaleshwaram in winners book of World records

The brainchild of K Chandrasekhar Rao and one of the wonders in the irrigation projects Kaleshwaram has got the recognition from the winners’ book of World records. The Megha Engineering company and also the BHEL which designed huge motors also got the recognition from the winners’ book of world records.

it is a project which has been completed on the fast track in a period of just three years. It has lifts at various stages to lift the water and do the reverse pumping process.

Both the local and foreign technology has been used for the construction of this project costing Rs 80500 crore. So far Rs 50000 crore has been spent on the project. It is one of the largest lift irrigation projects in the world. The project mainly feeds water for irrigation. Apart from this the water is also used for industries and drinking purpose. Hyderabad gets about 30 TMC of water from the project.

The project is a combination of lifts, tunnels and barrages where the water is reverse pumped and stored for irrigation.
