Karthi’s Kaashmora has registered better collection than Dhanush’s Kodi at worldwide box office in the first weekend and topped the global collection chart for south Indian films this Diwali season.

Kaashmora and Kodi are the most hyped and highly-anticipated Tamil movies of 2016. Both the films, also dubbed in Telugu, had huge amount of hype and promotion before their release. The trade Pandits in Kollywood were keeping their finger crossed over which of the two would lead the box office chart during the Diwali

Karthi and Dhanush’s movies started with a bang in Tamil Nadu on Friday and the strong word-of-mouth helped them show good growth on Saturday and Sunday. But the latter had an edge over the former at the ticket counters. Kodi and Kaashmora collected Rs 15 crore and 12.50 crore, respectively, at the TN box office in the first weekend.
