Yes we are talking about the Chetak Scooter which is popular with the slogan Hamara Bajaj and a milkman carrying the milk cans. This scooter was first designed for ladies so that they can sit on with the sarees.

Later it became very popular with the Hamara Bajaj advertising. Even today there are people who are using the old Bajaj. The manufacturing o the Bajaj scooters was stopped 14 years ago by the company.

Now it is being relaunched into the market as an electric scooter. First, it will be in Maharashtra and also Bangalore. The electric model has to be charged for 5 hours and can travel around 90 kilometres.

These days the people of all ages are using Activa the gearless vehicle. Those days people have to wait for around 6 months for getting a Chetak vehicle. Now Activa is in that position.

We have to see how far the people will accept the power-driven Chetak. The other day Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has launched the vehicle. The sales will begin in January from Pune.

It will be like a test marketing in two states and then the expansion will take place in other cities. The rate could be around Rs 80000. The Government gives a subsidy on the electric scooters.
