Former cricketer Azharuddin is all set to contest the Hyderabad Cricket Association elections again. Last time he could not contest the elections as Azhar could not provide the evidence that the ban imposed against him was lifted.

It may be recalled that a ban was imposed on Azharuddin not to play cricket as he was involved in the match-fixing.

Azhar said that he was ready for contesting the elections for the Post of the President -HCA. Earlier the election for HCA was held in 2017 and Azhar could not contest the election as he was unable to provide the evidence pertaining to his clearance in the match-fixing episode and the ban imposed by the BCCI against him.

It may be noted that he approached the court also over the issue, but he failed to contest the election. G Vivek Venkatswamy was then elected as the President to HCA when he was in TRS. Now Vivek is out of TRS and has to be seen if he would contest for the post again.

On the other hand, the decision on elections would be taken on the 21st of this month.

Azharuddin who was a Congress MP, tried to join the TRS earlier. Later he tried for the Congress ticket to contest as an MP from Secunderabad LS constituency.

He could not get the ticket and now he is gearing up for the HCA post.
