Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Aadhar is different and Voter ID is different. They have different purposes all together and they will not be linked he clarified. He was reacting to the news that like Facebook the information on Aadhar was also leaked and that there was no security to the individual’s data on Aadhar. Earlier there were rumours that the Aadhar data was on the google so on an so forth.
There was an apprehension that the Aadhar data was also open and there was no secret about it. Some of them charged that there was no security to the data of Aadhar. Now some people questioned as to what was the need for linking the voter Id with Aadhar. Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad clarified that there was no move from the Government side on this account.
He said that the press was free and the right to information is also there, but that does not mean anybody can breach into others data. Data abuse will not be tolerated for illegal purposes and one has to be in the limits he said.
Unauthorised use of data will not be tolerated he warned.
At the same time the issue of Privacy is overblown sometimes he said. The Government has already issued show cause notice to Facebook in this regard he informed. Free speech and free media are there but that does not mean one can abuse the social media he warned.
If everything was linked to Aadhar, people will say that Modi Government was snooping on everything which is not correct he opined.
