The Election Commission is introducing a new method in the Nandyala Assembly by-election in Andhra Pradesh to be held August 23 in which a voter could see the party or symbol for which he voted for.
After casting the vote through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), voter could see the symbol of the party for which he voted .
Though the Election Commission has decided to use the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) to make voting more transparent.
The VVPAT will display a piece of paper showing voting once the EVM button is pressed. The slip will move into a box after three seconds display and the voter can challenge if there is any difference from the vote he she had cast and the vote that is displayed in the VVPAT.
